Study of the most popular Antivirus Solutions and results about IDS & IPS (Intrusion Detection and Intrusion Prevention Solutions)

Today, about 27% of the companies work with Symantec (Norton/Symantec) and 15% with McAfee. Together with CA they cover more than 50% of the market. The category “Other” contains a lot of smaller, less known and less used antivirus solutions.

About 9% of the companies use more than 1 Antivirus solution. What IPS & IDS (Intrusion Detection & Prevention) concerns we can see that 2/3 of the contacted companies don’t use a specific software for this. 21% has an intrusion detection solution and 14% of the respondants has a detection & Prevention Solution installed. VIRTUALIZATION

Markethic conducted end of 2006 a study on 1004 companies and organizations on the Belgian and Luxemburg market.

Market leader HP-Compaq covers 44.91% of the Wintel server market, followed by Dell (24,55%) and IBM (12%). When we talk about the use of virtualization technologies, VMWare has far the leadership on the market. Only 9% of the respondants didn’t know the advantages of virtualization of servers. 46% of the market is allready using virtualization software. 45% is using VMWare. 40% don’t use it because they don’t need to use it for the moment. Projects : 15% of the respondants will run new virtualization projects within a 6 month timeframe, 9% foresee it later on.

Document Management - a booming market ?
How is the document management market today at large organisations ?

Few companies (only 19%) are scanning actually their invoices or manage a central electronic storage solution (23%). However, the market seems to have a lot of interesting opportunities.

Markethic poll : Linux in the SMB Market - further development

Today, 11% of the total Benelux market use Linux. For smaller companies (SMB < 200 employees), this percentage falls to 7%.
